50 Jahre Flugplatz Gütersloh - 12. Juni 1987

© D. Lohmeyer XL573 Hunter T7 12Sqn, Gütersloh (12/13.6.87) Aircraft of Lossiemouth based units were rare visitors at Gutersloh. This Hunter T7 of 12Sqn was a nice exception when it was present for the Open Day in 1987. Gutersloh was the RAF station which hosted Hunter units for the longest time: Hunters were based in Gutersloh from 1956 until 1971.

© D. Lohmeyer XS935/AK Lightning F6 5Sqn, Gutersloh (12/13.6.87) On June, 13th of 1987 Lightning F6 "Alpha Kilo" of 5Sqn left Gutersloh for the Air Show at Skrydstrup. After take off the aircraft stayed very low just to turn into a steep climb! In the background you can see a Bf.109 of MBB performing a fly-by.

© D. Lohmeyer "XF949/L"/XG152 Hunter F6A 3Sqn, Gutersloh (12/13.6.87) The real serial number of this "fake" Hunter F4 is XG152. It formerly belonged to 1TWU and was based at RAF Brawdy.

© D. Lohmeyer FM-BB Bf.109 MBB, Gutersloh (12/13.6.1987) The Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm Bf.109 was with no doubt one of the hightlights of the 1987 Open Day held at Gutersloh. Sad enough the weather was not very good during the whole weekend.

© D. Lohmeyer G-ASKH/RR299/HT-E Mosquito T3 BAe, Gütersloh (12/13.6.87) Sad enough this last flying Mosquito crashed in 1996. In 1987 it was owned by British Aerospace and was based in Hatfield.

© D. Lohmeyer G-ASKH/RR299/HT-E Mosquito T3 BAe, Gütersloh (12/13.6.87) In the mid Fourties three squadrons (4, 21 and 107Sqn) equipped with Mosquitos were based at Gutersloh. This visit of Mosquito T3 RR299 was the last visit of that type ever.

© D. Lohmeyer G-ASAJ/WE569 Auster T7 privatly owned, Gütersloh (12.6.87) This civil Auster was one of only a few participants at Gutersloh airfield's 50th birthday ceremony in 1987.
